Our future linebacker

This is Aubrey telling her little brother about life and that he is her best friend! She is still taking good care of her brother and loves all over him as much as she can.
And in other news, Brody weighed in at a whopping 11 lb 12 oz on Monday (5 weeks). He is popping out of the papasan chair and is already too long for his basinet. Ken is excited that he has enough body mass to be a future football player for LSU!

Brody Man, AKA The Brodster

I went in for my final ultrasound on June 27th to check my fluid level and to see how big Brody was. The ultrasound sized him up at 7 lb 9 oz and all levels looked good. But as I was walking out of the doctor's office, I asked the nurse to check my blood pressure as I didn't feel well. My BP was extremely high so I got to lay in a room until the doctor could see me. They checked it several times over 2 hours and it really wasn't going down. So I got admitted to the hospital for the night.

A little history...when I went in for Aubrey's last ultrasound 3 years ago, I was also admitted into the hospital and had her a day later. I was 39 weeks with her. But I was 37 1/2 weeks this time so I was nervous not wanting to have Brody until July 11th as scheduled.

As soon as I got in the hospital, my BP dropped back to normal and stayed that way all night. The doctor (our close friend from church) wanted to go ahead and take Brody that day as to not take a chance. But after much discussion, we decided to do the C Section on July 1st. (That would give me, the engineer, time to go home and get things in order.) I had to finish buying Aubrey's birthday decorations/favors, pack my hospital bag, go to work and transfer everything to my relief, and pray!!!

Ken and I went back to the hospital Friday morning, July 1st at 5 am. Our awesome friends from church came and prayed with us and then the surgery prep began. At 6:30 am, Ken and I were taken back to surgery and by 7:30 am, Brody was here. He had the deepest little man cry that was so precious. Everything went smooth. Aubrey gave him a sticker on his diaper and they became best friends. He weighed in at 8 lb 6 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. How big would he have been if I would have made it to his due date?
Aubrey is the best big sister. She covers him with hugs and kisses, keeps him with his paci, and tells me if he needs milk. Its been one month now and he is already growing too fast. He is a great baby. Eats, sleeps, and fills his diaper. Then we do it all over again. The Lord has blessed us with two healthy miracles in Aubrey and Brody. We are so thankful.

Final Four and Bluebonnets

Ken and I lucked out with tickets to the men's final four championship in Houston last weekend at the last minute! It was so much fun. While we were there, Aubrey got to visit Gigi and Big Papa and see the bluebonnets. They fought gail force winds, but some of the expressions were priceless while shooting pictures.

Time to play catch up again....

Thanksgiving 2010 - We traveled to Richardson, Tx to have a big Thanksgiving at Ken's brother's house (Tim and Rachel Atkins). What a great day of food, naps, and football.

Christmas 2010 - Christmas weekend was spent at Gigi and Big Papa's house unveiling Aubrey's BIG surprise that she was going to be a BIG SISTER. We dressed her in a "I'm the Big Sister" shirt and let her run through the house. Gigi just thought she was cute and then 5 seconds later...it clicked. What was on her shirt? Everyone was surprised, but thought it was about time! On New Years weekend, we did it all over again at the Meemaw and Pawpaw's house with the same reaction. Meemaw said, "You will be a big sister someday, but not yet" and then 5 seconds later..."Ohhhhhh"! What a great time.

Since then, we have found out that IT's A BOY!!! I have the proof in the pictures, but they are blurry as he will not be still. This is a new world for me as Aubrey slept for 9 months and hardly moved. This boy moves all the time and is ready to be the next kicker for LSU.

Aubrey loves the thought of a baby brother. We have decided on the name Brody Wallace. Brody is just a name Ken and I both liked and Wallace is his Grandmother Lewis' maiden name. Aubrey has a hard time saying BRODY and it comes out RODY instead. So cute.

Aubrey is growing so fast and talking so good these days. She melted our hearts recently when she came home from preschool singing these words:
Jesus is my friend today
Clap your hands
Shout Hooray!

CITGO Family Picnic

We went to the CITGO Family picnic on October 30th. Aubrey and her best friend Shelby had a blast riding all the carnival rides: slides, swings, cars, boats, and more. They had no fear as long as they were together.

Happy Halloween

Aubrey was the cutest Garden Flower Knome on the block! We went to St. Luke Simpson's trunk or treat and she stole the show as usual. She loved getting candy in her Elmo pumpkin!
